Purpose:

To encourage participation in the 2027 Waste to Worth conference and engagement in the Livestock & Poultry Environmental Learning Community (LPELC) by those who may have difficulty funding their participation.

Grant Amount and Form of Assistance:

The LPELC is offering up to 10 grants of $250 per successful applicant.  The financial assistance for successful applicants will most likely occur as a discounted registration fee.

Eligibility and Criteria for Selection:

To be eligible for this assistance, the applicant must:

    • Be a member of the LPELC or express interest in becoming a member;
    • Confirm that financial support will influence participation;
    • Be able to accept financial assistance [in the form of discounted registration]; and
    • Express willingness to assist during a portion of the conference (i.e. assist a session moderator, help at registration area; assist tour leader).

The following criteria will be considered incrementally in reviewing applications:

    • The anticipated benefit from conference participation to the applicant:
      • programming for clientele
      • engagement with the LPELC
    • Localization of responsibilities (some prioritization given to a county extension educator or district staff person over a state extension specialist or national staff person);
    • First-time W2W attendees; and
    • Application date (earlier it is received).

Delivery of a presentation at Waste to Worth 2027, while encouraged, is not required.

Deadlines and Notification of Application Status:

Applications will be accepted until 10 grants have been allocated or January 31, 2027, whichever occurs first.  Notification about the projected status of individual applications should occur within 14 days of receipt.
